Candace Postal, MC RCC

Candace Postal is a registered Clinical Counsellor accredited by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.  Candace holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling, graduating in 2005. For over a decade she has been working in community service as well as child and youth mental health settings in BC while also teaching on suicide prevention and leading various therapy groups.

Candace went on to receive extensive training using alternative therapies and supervision in working with children, adolescents and families experiencing grief and loss, sexually intrusive behaviour issues and sexual abuse concerns. She then went on to train & equip other mental health teams the art of working with these concerns. 

The focus of her work is on grief and loss, postpartum concerns, depression, anxiety, self-injury, and sexual intrusion using of a variety of treatment modalities including art & narrative therapy. She thoroughly enjoys working with adults and teenagers and connecting her clients with other health professionals that best serve them on their journey to health and wellness. Collaboration is the cornerstone of her work as she believes it takes a team for one to thrive.  Candace is also honoured to partner with Whistler Community Services as an affiliate counsellor.

As a counsellor Candace sees herself as your ally and as a part of your greater network of support. Her counselling style is dynamic. She works from an integrative, mindfulness, strength based, body-centered approach. She places a strong emphasis on developing a genuine relationship with each of her clients, knowing the relationship is a launching point for emotional safety, hope and transformation. She believes that ultimately you are an expert on your own life, and believes that with your skills, knowledge and her therapeutic expertise you will be empowered to make the changes you desire while unearthing the beauty within you.

When she is not working you will find her enjoying her community with her husband, two young children and friends. She is a mountain woman at heart and enjoys skiing, paddle boarding, hiking and adventuring into the forest, though the ocean often calls her name to refresh her soul. She savours a coffee in the early morning and tea into the evening while creating healthy treats or drinks to share with friends and family. She feels incredibly blessed to call this warm, breathtaking, and creative community home.
